A non-profit in Cloverdale is now hosting monthly social events for seniors.

Storehouse Seniors’ Socials are part of multi-layered outreach services at the Storehouse Community Hub Society. Held on the fourth Tuesday of every month, all seniors in the community are invited to attend.

“We feed everyone lunch and we usually have some type of activity, or speaker, or information session, or something like that to go along with it,” said Lindsay Rempel, event director for Storehouse.

Rempel said ahead of each session, Storehouse will post something on their social channels about each event.

In the past they’ve done things like free haircuts and free hearing tests. They’ve done games, such as bingo days and things like that. They’ve also had sessions that provide seniors with information applicable to their daily lives.

The next senior social is set for March 31. Rempel said it’s an anomaly because of the spring break, so it will actually be the fifth Tuesday of the month in March. April’s is set for the fourth Tuesday (April 28), as is May’s (May 26).

“Our March 31 session is about fraud and scams,” Rempel revealed. “How seniors can avoid being scammed, what signs to look for. So we’ll have someone coming out to do a talk on that.”

Storehouse oversees the Cloverdale Community Kitchen, Storehouse Regional Foodbank, Cloverdale Christmas Hampers, Storehouse Mobile Meals, Storehouse Outreach, Storehouse Clothing Cupboard, and Lunch With Purpose.

Storehouse is located at 5337 180th Street in Cloverdale.
