The Montreal Canadiens have confirmed an injury to a forward, announced during the game from the Bell Centre.

We didn’t have much time to discuss it during the game, as there was plenty of action and momentum swings, but important news came in live from the Bell Centre.

We were quite surprised to see Joe Veleno, rather than Alexandre Texier, inserted into the lineup tonight against the Blue Jackets. Well, we now finally have an explanation!

Injury alert on offense for Martin St-Louis and the Montreal Canadiens

It was ultimately due to an injury that Texier was scratched from the lineup at the last minute.

This will now be a major situation to monitor over the coming hours.

See the official statement from the Montreal Canadiens here:

“Forward Alexandre Texier (lower body) is considered day-to-day.”

Let’s truly hope it’s nothing too serious for Texier.

An interesting detail to note: the Canadiens never posted their official lineup (lines and pairings) on social media at the usual time, which suggests this decision may have been made at the very last second.

Alexandre Texier, 26, is a 6-foot-1, 196-pound forward who was originally a second-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2017.

He has recorded a solid 19 points in 38 games this season with the Canadiens, following his signing by Kent Hughes a few months ago.
