Sidhu was at the apex of a syndicate with deep ties to former Olympian-turned-alleged drug lord Ryan Wedding. The Thunder Bay native relied on Punjabi truckers and trucking companies to bring the drugs into Canada.

Nicknamed the “King,” Sidhu’s plea deal slams another torpedo into the now obliterated Wedding organization. The snowboarder’s alleged top lieutenant, Andrew Clark, who was busted in October, is also expected to flip.

Eight loads seized in a month

According to a U.S. indictment, Sidhu’s truck drivers met Wedding operatives at stash houses in Los Angeles. They would then haul the drugs over the border to Canada and the streets of this country.

Sidhu copped to leading “an organization responsible for trafficking drugs” into Canada. Prosecutors said that in “a single month in 2022,” cops seized eight separate drug loads, totalling approximately 523 kilograms of methamphetamine and 347 kilograms of cocaine. The drugs were worth about $17 million.

“After buying the bulk quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine in the U.S., Sidhu arranged for the narcotics’ transportation into Canada via long-haul semi-trucks for further distribution,” the attorney’s office said.

“Sidhu provided telephone numbers and serial numbers on bills of currency for couriers to use as a ‘token’ for identification purposes during the delivery and transportation of the cocaine and methamphetamine.”

Once the drugs arrived in this country, Sidhu and his teams would retrieve the dope and then distribute them.

Officials said that the dethroned “King” operated his organization, allegedly in conjunction with Wedding, between September 2020 and February 2023.

Now, the “King” faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in the slammer and a statutory maximum sentence of life imprisonment, U.S. officials said. His sentencing is slated for July 9.

For Sidhu, the end came in January 2024 when he was arrested and ultimately extradited to the United States last October. He is the lead defendant in a 23-count federal indictment targeting his organization.

Where things stand for Ryan Wedding

While it isn’t the end of the Ryan Wedding organization, you can see the finale coming. Sidhu was the seventh conspirator arrested and some have already been caged from two to nine years.

Ryan Wedding, 44, was nabbed in Mexico City after eluding law enforcement for more than a decade. The feds have filed two sweeping indictments against him, alleging he ran a transnational criminal empire deeply tied to the Sinaloa cartel and other global crime syndicates.

By last November, Wedding had hit the criminal milieu’s big time: A spot on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List along with a sweet $15-million bounty for intel that would put him behind bars.

Among a slew of other charges, Wedding allegedly ordered the execution of a federal witness against him, Jonathan Acebedo Garcia, a Colombian-born drug connection from Montreal.

Garcia was tracked down and killed by a team of sicarios in January 2025 on a street in Medellin, Colombia. Wedding is accused of offering up $5 million to the hitter who took Garcia off the board.

So far the feds have been tight-lipped, but if convicted, Wedding could face a date with the executioner in Terre Haute, Indiana.
