It’s not an exaggeration to say that, outside of Thailand itself, Toronto is probably home to some of the best Thai cuisine in the world.

The city is home to dozens of acclaimed Thai hotspots, including nine of celebrated chef Nuit Regular’s outposts (including Pai, Kiin and Sukhothai, to name a few). It’s also home to southern Thai cuisine mainstay Koh Lipe, star-approved Mengrai Thai, Pii Nong (the first restaurant, market and spa concept in the city) and, of course, Chiang Mai.

Now, it looks like Chiang Mai, a popular restaurant with multiple locations, is heading west and opening its first GTA location in Mississauga.

The restaurant has not yet formally announced the location of its newest eatery (though the brand’s official website teases an as-yet-unannounced new hotspot).

That said, an October 2025 building report posted on the City of Mississauga’s website indicates that a permit has been issued to a numbered company for interior alterations to Chiang Mai Thai Kitchen, which will be located at 285 Enfield Place–a prime location near the Hurontario and Burnhamthorpe intersection, steps away from Square One.

A job posting was also recently shared in the Filipino Community in the Greater Toronto Area Facebook group, advising residents that Chiang Mai will be opening another location in Mississauga and is currently looking for bartenders and servers.

The news comes shortly after another acclaimed Toronto-based Thai concept, Pii Nong, announced plans to bring its three-in-one massage, shopping and dining experience to the GTA this year. Pii Nong will open its newest location in Oakville in May.

Launched in 2018, Chiang Mai, which operates locations in Greektown, Etobicoke, Liberty Village, the Junction and York Mills, serves classic Thai dishes such as pineapple fried rice and pad see ew, as well as some more inventive options like Wagyu khao soi dumplings.

They also serve refined cocktails and offer brunch at select locations, including their newest York Mills restaurant.

Some brunch dishes include Thai tea French toast, Tom Yum noodle soup, lobster eggs Benedict, fried chicken and egg waffles, and more.

An official opening date has not yet been announced.
