Non-profit boxing gym hosts open house in Derby

  • March 28, 2026

DERBY, Kan. (KWCH) – A new non-profit boxing gym in Derby is set to open to the community on Saturday between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., with a special open house event.

The gym run by Brandon Ivy, aims to provide an affordable and accessible space for people of all ages. Membership for kids is set at $25, while adults can join for $50. First responders will be allowed to train for free.

Organizers said the facility will offer 24/7 access through a keypad system, making it one of the few gyms in the area available around the clock.

The gym is named in honor of Harper Justice Ivy, a 3-year-old who died in a vehicle fire at a QuikTrip back in 2023. Ivy, who has been boxing for more than a decade, says opening the gym is his way of giving back to the community that supported him.

Derby has not had a boxing gym since the previous one closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, making this new facility a significant addition to the area.
