LETTER: A day at Peace Arch Hospital revealed need for expansion

Long story short:
I found myself is dire need of an ambulance, and a day in emergency at Peace Arch opened up my eyes to the real-time need for an expanded hospital I can’t be more direct because what I saw was all the staff, and I mean all the staff, working as a team. From the ambulance to the floor cleaners, everybody was playing their best game because they deal with illness and tragedy every day.
Can you imagine the dedication that comes with working in a hospital?
That said, the only complaint I have is the what they like to call food. Terrible, and guess what, not made here.
Something about the “lowest bidder” comes to mind, and this is the evil part of bureaucracies and why they do in fact need to be dramatically cut down in size. I might add that the “unwarranted” political power that they have is beyond the pale on so many levels and all too noticeable.
The NDP, who I can no longer vote for, have expanded the civil service and in the process helped out their old union buddies with zero experience running anything.
And my, oh my, how it shows, with rank arrogance these civil servants that make their own empires need to be cut down in size like to at least 30 per cent of the budget.
No one pushing paper around should have any say at all how the monies should be spent because over 60 per cent of the provincial budget goes into health. The problem is in factan overstuffed bunch of insiders who are taking it off the top for “themselves” first, and it needs to be addressed and stopped and soon.
