Aleah Wyatt scored the game’s only goal to send the Metro-East Lutheran girls soccer team to its first win of the season.

Wyatt scored in the first half on an assist from Grace Koch for the 1-0 win for the Knights over Unity Christian on March 28.

It was Wyatt’s second career varsity goal. She has scored both her team’s goals this season. It was Koch’s first varsity point.

Wyatt finished with three of her team’s five shots. Alyssa Bivens had the other two.

Adelynn Graney continued her strong start in goal. She had six saves for the shutout. On the season, the freshman has made 92 saves, which ranks No. 1 in the state, according to MaxPreps.

The Father McGivney and Metro-East Lutheran boys volleyball teams each went 1-4 at the Belleville East Tournament over the weekend.

The Griffins, now 3-4, dropped their first four of the tournament before beating Alton 25-14, 25-20 in their final match.

The Knights, now 1-5, picked up their lone win against Alton, beating the Redbirds 25-17, 24-26, 25-18 in the first round of bracket play.

Individual stats were not available for either team.
