From Italian coastal cuisine to farm-driven tasting menus and traditional Indian dishes, new restaurant openings are bringing diverse flavours to Ontario!

Here are four restaurants that opened this month in Mississauga, Oshawa and Niagara:

Mercatto Centrale is set to open in Mississauga’s Port Credit neighbourhood, marking the Italian restaurant group’s first location outside Toronto in nearly three decades.

Located within the Brightwater waterfront development, the restaurant spans approximately 8,500 square feet and offers indoor and patio dining for close to 300 guests.

The menu features a mix of classic and modern Italian dishes, including antipasti, seafood platters, pizzas, pastas and steak, alongside desserts such as tiramisu. The restaurant will also offer brunch service, a first for the Mercatto brand.

Reve, a new restaurant focused on live fire cooking and tasting menus, has opened at 242 Mary St. in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The concept centres on a “farm to fire” approach, drawing from Sicilian traditions and local Niagara ingredients.

The restaurant offers a 10-course tasting menu as well as a four-course option, with dishes inspired by global culinary influences and paired with wines ranging from Sicily to Niagara.

India’s Taste has opened a new location at 2620 Simcoe St. N., Unit 7 & 8, in Oshawa, expanding the long-running restaurant brand into Durham Region.

The menu includes a wide selection of traditional Indian dishes, including tandoori meats, curries, biryani and street-food favourites.

Popular items include Kali Mirch Chicken Tawa, Goat Curry and Paneer Tawa, along with snacks such as pani puri, samosa chaat and bhel puri, and desserts like gulab jamun and ras malai.
