In 2025, the Golden State Valkyries became the most successful expansion franchise in WNBA history.

The Valkyries finished 23-21 and became the first expansion team to make the playoffs in its inaugural season — setting the all-time regular-season attendance records for average attendance and total fans at “Ballhalla” in the process.

The Valkyries just rewarded their fans for their overwhelming support.

On Monday, the Valkyries revealed a brand-new Nike “Explorer Edition” violet jersey ahead of the WNBA’s 30th season, which tips off on May 8. The Valkyries will open in Seattle on May 8 and host the Phoenix Mercury for their home opener on May 10.

“Our fans didn’t just ask for a jersey; they asked for a symbol of this new era,” Valkyries President Jess Smith said in a statement, per press release. “Across every region of the Bay, we’ve seen our Valkyries violet begin to line the streets, a signal that the Valkyries have truly landed. This jersey is our response to that energy, a bold reinforcement of everything we’ve built in year one. It’s more than a uniform; it’s a reflection of a fan base ready to claim their territory. I can’t wait to see a sea of violet take over the community and soar on the court.”

The violet “Explorer Edition” jerseys will be available to purchase at the Golden State Shop in Thrive City on Tuesday and are expected to hit the team’s official online shop this week.
