In only his third marathon ever, Vancouver’s Thomas Nobbs has launched himself from 21st to fourth on the Canadian all-time marathon list.
On Saturday, at the 2026 McKirdy Micro Marathon at Rockland Lake State Park in Valley Cottage, N.Y., Nobbs claimed a dominant win in a course record of 2:09:25–a three-minute improvement from his former best. The performance marks the 10th-fastest Canadian marathon time ever.
Fellow Vancouverite Dayna Pidhoresky won the women’s title with her fastest run since 2022.

Nobbs won by nearly three-minutes; Erik Linden of the U.S. grabbed second in 2:12:10, while his compatriot Alec Troxell rounded out the podium in 2:14:51.
Originally from Vancouver but now based in Ottawa, Nobbs came into the event with a personal best of 2:12:27, set just three months ago at December’s Marathon Project. The 26-year-old made his marathon debut in 2024, and now trails only Cam Levins (2:05:36), Rory Linkletter (2:06:49) and Ben Preisner (2:08:58) on the national leaderboard.
Nobbs opened his season last month at the First Half Marathon in Vancouver, running 1:03:42 for third.
Pidhoresky clocks fastest time since 2022
On the women’s side, Pidhoresky clocked 2:31:09 to win by more than three minutes. The performance marks her fastest result since her 2:30 at the 2022 TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon, and is just two minutes off her 2:29:03 personal best from 2019.

American runners Jessica Donohue and Annabel Stafford took second and third, clocking 2:34:40 and 2:25:07, respectively.
Pidhoresky, 39, opened her season with a second-place finish at the Vancouver First Half, where she ran 1:12:41–just three seconds shy of her personal best.
