Surrey road to be closed four consecutive nights

Part of Hwy #15 in Cloverdale will be closed in April for four consecutive nights.

The roadway just south of Fraser Hwy will be shut down to facilitate construction along the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain route.

The closure will take place from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m., from April 14-17, to support guideway work over the highway.

“A full road closure is required to safely lift and install steel beams (box girders) above the road,” explains a press release from the B.C. Government’s Transportation Investment Corporation (TIC). “This work will take place overnight to minimize impacts on traffic during peak periods.”

The TIC notes several traffic pattern changes will be in effect for the four-hour window. These include: overnight road closure of Highway 15 (12 a.m. to 4 a.m.) between Fraser Highway and 64th Avenue; residential and business access only on Highway 15 north of 64th Avenue.

A detour for regular traffic will push vehicles to 168th Street and 184th Street, travelling along 64th Avenue when going east or west (see map).

A detour for trucks travelling eastbound on Fraser Highway will push them down to the Hwy #10 intersection in Langley.

“Traffic control personnel will coordinate access in and out of the closure area with residents and businesses,” notes the release. “Single lane traffic in each direction on Fraser Highway across Highway 15 maintained.”

TIC adds there will be turn restrictions from April 7-25 to accommodate construction equipment. These include: no right turns from Fraser Highway eastbound to Highway 15 southbound, and no right turns from Highway 15 northbound to Fraser Highway eastbound.

TIC expects delays in the area while the road closures are on.
