The superstar Canadian quarterback has won the league’s Most Outstanding Player honor and also holds the single-season record for completion percentage.
American football fans may remember his name from his time with the Ohio Bobcats in the MAC.
Now, though, fans are wondering what’s going on with Rourke.
A social media post on Wednesday has put his future in doubt.

Is Nathan Rourke leaving BC Lions?
No, it does not actually appear Rourke is leaving the CFL.
The official team account posted this on social media, suggesting Rourke is leaving to prepare for flag football at the 2028 Olympics:

The key is the date: April 1. It’s April Fools Day.
While there’s a tiny sliver of a chance that’s real, it wouldn’t make any sense as a career move for Rourke.Â
Once you add up the news with the day, it becomes a lot clearer that this was just an attempt at being funny. Whether it landed or not is a different question.
