Surrey talent, kids at Whitecaps’ Vaisakhi Match on Saturday night

Vancouver Whitecaps FC say more than 22,000 tickets have been sold for the MLS team’s Vaisakhi Match this Saturday night (April 4).
Starting at 6 p.m., soccer fans can enjoy festivities on Terry Fox Plaza with DJ Unusual before a pre-match dance performance by UBC Bhangra Club and NAAM Bhangra inside BC Place Stadium, where the Caps face Portland Timbers at 7:30 p.m.
A halftime performance by Surrey’s Chani Nattan and Inderpal Moga, 2025 JUNO Award nominees, will follow national anthems sung by Shruti Ramani.
Pre-match, Whitecaps FC and MNP will host 80 youth from Surrey School District and Surrey FC for a clinic on the pitch, followed by a special event at BC Sports Hall of Fame.
Vaisakhi Match food includes tikka masala poutine, available at section 239.
A special-edition Whitecaps FC Vaisakhi logo, created by local artist Anu Chouhan, is sold on scarves and jersey decal. “Inspired by nature, the design reflects growth prosperity and the deep-rooted connection between the land and the Punjabi community,” a Whitecaps news release says. “The logo uses traditional Phulkari embroidery style known for its vibrant geometric patterns, while symbolizing resilience, joy, and cultural heritage.”

A week later, another big crowd is expected when Whitecaps FC host an Indigenous Peoples Celebration Match, presented by BMO, on Saturday, April 11 against New York City FC.
