What to know

A viral video shows a violent fist fight between two students inside a school hallway, followed by a scene outside where one student pulls out what appeared to be a gun and points it at another person.

Police confirmed the incident occurred at Ascension of Our Lord Secondary School in Mississauga, adding the weapon was a BB gun; one minor has been arrested and no further details were released.

The video gained thousands of views online, with commenters calling for consequences such as expulsion or weapon-related charges, while others debated whether accountability lies with school leadership or the students’ parents.

An alarming video of a Mississauga student shown pointing a gun at another student following a violent fistfight has piqued viewers’ attention on social media.

In the video posted earlier this week, two students are seen in what appears to be a school hallway, in the middle of a fist fight. One student was striking the other, while on top of him. Then the video cuts to multiple people outside in a parking lot, when one pulls out what looks like a gun, pointing it at another person.

Police confirmed to Now Toronto that the incident happened at Ascension of Our Lord Secondary School near Anaka Drive and Brandon Gate Drive in Mississauga. The student had pulled out a BB gun and pointed it at the other student following the fight.

One person has since been arrested but police said they would not be releasing further details due to the suspect being a minor.

Now Toronto reached out to Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board for comment but did not receive a response by publication.

Online reaction

The video garnered thousands of views across multiple social media platforms, with many people saying the people involved should be facing consequences.

“Expelled and jailed for the one in red, suspension for the other,” one X (formerly Twitter) user commented.

Another X user agreed, specifying what charge the student should get.

“How about jail for weapon charges?”

Some said the principal of the school should take responsibility but others disagreed.

“Shame on these students for their behaviour. They absolutely deserve the expulsion coming their way,” one X user wrote. “I don’t see what the principal has to be accountable for.

The parents of these youths on the other hand, they absolutely do need to be accountable for their children’s actions.”

Another agreed, saying accountability should lie with the parents of both students.
