MONTREAL – Montreal police say a 56-year-old man is in critical condition after a suspected stabbing on Friday evening.
A 911 call was made around 8:15 p.m. reporting a person injured during an armed assault near Ontario and Dezery streets in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough of Montreal.
Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant says the victim was found with upper-body injuries caused by a sharp object and was transported to the hospital.

Montreal police later arrested a 50-year-old woman in a vehicle near Sherbrooke Street and d’Orléans Avenue in the Rosemont borough.
She was taken to an investigation centre and was to be questioned about the incident.
Montreal police say they believe the stabbing followed an altercation between the two individuals, though the exact location remains unknown as investigators continue to interview witnesses.
