Scottie Scheffler’s Masters status is in doubt as his wife Meredith Scheffler is expecting their second child.

Scottie Scheffler and wife Meredith Scheffler are expecting their second child. While this is good news for the Scheffler family, it complicates Scottie’s availability with the Masters just days away.

It is a familiar story as Scottie and Meredith were also expecting ahead of the 2024 Masters. Scottie withdrew from the Houston Open for an unspecified reason.

Golf Channel reported that Scottie withdrew as the couple awaits the “imminent birth” of their second child. Scottie also skipped this week’s Valero Texas Open and there has been no news of the birth happening yet.

“Scottie Scheffler has withdrawn from this week’s Texas Children’s Houston Open – and it’s great news,” Golf Channel’s Brentley Romine detailed in a March 24, 2026, story titled, “Scottie Scheffler withdraws ahead of Houston Open for birth of second child.”

“Though a reason wasn’t immediately provided by the PGA Tour, Golf Channel has confirmed that the reason was not injury-related but rather the imminent birth of Scheffler’s second child.”

Here’s what you need to know about Scottie and his wife Meredith ahead of the Masters.

Scottie Scheffler Was Previously Prepared to Bolt the Masters If His Wife Meredith Scheffler Went Into Labor

Scottie is a 2-time Masters champion and would be one of the biggest stars at Augusta National, assuming the golfer is able to play. Ahead of the 2024 Masters, Scottie revealed that he planned to leave the tournament if he got the call that Meredith went into labor.

Scottie had a plan in place where he could be contacted if this scenario played out at Augusta National. The star golfer may need a similar plan at the upcoming Masters.

“Definitely have a way to get home pretty quickly,” Scottie said on April 13, 2024, per Golf Week. “We have somebody here that has access to their cell phone, if that’s all right.

“And, yes, I’ll be available to go home then whenever I need to.”

Scottie & Meredith Scheffler’s Son Bennett Was Born Several Weeks After the 2024 Masters

Meredith’s due date is not known publicly, but so far there has been no news about the potential birth. Fortunately for the couple, Scottie did not need to exercise his plan during the Masters in 2024.

The couple’s son, Bennett, was born on May 8, 2024, several weeks after the Masters concluded. Scottie has adjusted nicely to being a father and continues to emphasize that his family is much more important than golf.

“I love being able to play this game for a living,” Scheffler said in 2025, per Forbes. “It’s one of the greatest joys of my life. But does it fill the deepest wants and desires of my heart? Absolutely not.

“I love being a father, I love be able to take care of my son. I love to be able provide for my family out here playing golf, and every day when I wake up early to go put in the work, my wife thanks me for going out and working so hard. And when I get home, I try and thank her every day for taking care of our son.”

Masters Odds: Scottie Scheffler Remains the Favorite to Win His 3rd Green Jacket

Despite his Masters availability being in doubt, Scottie remains the favorite to win his third green jacket. Amid a somewhat bumpy start to 2026, Scottie is the favorite in the Masters odds at +410, per DraftKings.

Defending champion Rory McIlroy is third at +1025. LIV Golf star Jon Rahm sits in second at +850.
