It is without amazement that the president of the teachers union, Jason Schilling, says the classroom political neutrality is offensive to teachers and the union. This group of union leaders have for years now been turning classrooms into ideological training centres of indoctrinating the youth of today. You can teach about politics but not about your or anyone else’s opinions. Youth are there to learn, not about religion, NDP and gender ideologies. Math, science and skills only.

Truckers shut out
(Re: Editorial – ‘Strange double standard enforcing protest laws,’ Sun, April 2) The Liberal Party are spineless to fess up and admit they were wrong. I suppose they believe they have seen the higher truth. Unfortunately for Canadians that higher truth is usually wrong. PM Trudeau imposed a fortnight self-quarantine on truckers when they return to Canada from the U.S. What was barely mentioned or reported in the media was that most, if not all long-haul drivers are paid by the mile, so if the wheels aren’t turning they’re not earning any money. truckers have bills to pay, money going out and none coming in. I agree with the editorial, all Justin Trudeau had to do was meet with them, hear their grievances and concerns, but he chose to run away like a scared little boy.

A sad country
Re: ‘Frowns all around’ (Bryan Passifiume, March 20): Blaming social media for Canada’s drop to 25th (out of 147 countries) in the Annual World Happiness Report is somewhat misleading.
After what Canadians have suffered through with the Liberals in power for the last 10 years, I’m not surprised. That being said, upon drilling down on the full report, to the horror and dismay of the usual suspects in the anti-Israel industry, the biggest surprise is Israel’s top-10, 8th-place ‘happiness’ finish, far ahead of all their neighbours, the closest being the UAE (United Arab Emirates) in 21st place. And to add a tidbit of irony, the citizens of a country called ‘Palestine’ are in 108th place, slightly behind Iran at 99th, but happier than Egypt, which wound up in 135th place.
