A planned protest will be taking place in Brampton on Sunday.
Peel Regional Police say they are aware of a large gathering at Triveni Mandir, located at 20 Daviselm Dr., and are working with organizers and community partners to ensure the event remains safe.
Police have not specified what the demonstration is about or how long it is expected to last.
In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), officers said they support the right to lawful and peaceful assembly, while emphasizing that their priority is to maintain public order and ensure the safety of everyone involved.
Law enforcement will be present at the demonstration to monitor activity and assist with crowd control.
Police say criminal behaviour will not be tolerated, adding that hate has no place in the community.
