Hockey, soccer, slo-pitch charity tournaments returning to Kelowna

The fun-filled weekend of sports, fundraising, and community is set to take place in Kelowna.

The 17th annual McElhanney Cares Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon charity hockey, soccer and slo-pitch tournament weekend is coming back to the Mission Sports Complex on May 29 and 30.

Since the tournament began, more than $690,000 has been raised in support of Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon, including over $121,000 raised in last year alone.

On top of the tournaments, there will be a 50/50 draw, raffles, and a silent auction, and an online auction with all funds going directly to Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon.

There are currently 16 hockey teams, 10 soccer teams, and 14 slo-pitch teams registered. Of note, the City of Kelowna will have teams in the hockey and soccer tournaments.

With over a month until the event, more than $18,500 has already been raised, as of 1:30 p.m. on April 4.
