Some of the biggest stars in cycling turned out for the 2026 Tour of Flanders, part of the highly celebrated Flanders Classics and one of the sport’s five coveted Monuments.

The day featured hundreds of kilometers of racing down the spectator-lined cobblestone streets of Belgium and over some of the regions most iconic and challenging climbs.

The 2026 Tour of Flanders – Men, the 110th edition of the event, went off first and crossed 278.2 kilometers. Slovenian superstar and defending champion Tadej Pogacar pulled away from Mathieu van der Poel with 18 kilometers to go and rode solo for the victory Sunday, making him the eighth rider in history to win the race three times. Van der Poel also is on the list with wins in 2020, 2022 and 2024.

The women followed shortly after and battled over 164.1 kilometers, including some of the toughest aspects of the men’s course. The 2026 Tour of Flanders – Women saw a similar situation in the final kilometers, with Demi Vollering breaking free and riding solo for 18 kilometers to claim her first Tour of Flanders victory. She was the runner-up in 2023.

The Tour of Flanders, known locally as the Ronde van Vlaanderen, is considered by many to be an unofficial world championship.

Belgian star Remco Evenepoel finished third Sunday, just over a minute behind Pogacar and 35 seconds behind Van der Poel.

Evenepoel, who is very familiar with the area, was a late addition to the race roster. It was his debut at the Tour of Flanders and his first major cobbled classic.

Not long after making the announcement, he was out on the 278.2-kilometer course to prepare for the chaos ahead.

The 2026 men’s route began in Antwerp and feature 16 cobbled climbs and seven flat cobbled sections, while the final, flatter portion of the race was where the champion finally emerged, as expected.

The riders again endured the famous Oude Kwaremont and Paterberg, two legendary climbs.

In 2025, Pogacar collected his second win at the Tour of Flanders by soloing home a minute ahead of Mads Pedersen and Van der Poel.

Pogacar was attempting to become the eighth three-time winner on the men’s side.

The race was held for the first time in 1913 and will be celebrating its 110th edition in 2026, while the women’s race was added in 2004.

The 2026 women’s race started and finished in in Oudenaarde, and the route featured nine climbs and six cobbled sections, including the Oude Kwaremont-Paterberg combination and a flatter 13-kilometer run in to the finish.

In the first 109 editions of the Tour of Flanders, the race was won by a Belgian rider 69 times, with the Netherlands next on the list with 13 victories. Seven riders have won the race three times, and another 12 have been victorious twice. Of those 19 riders, 14 are from Belgium.

Van der Poel won the men’s Tour of Flanders in 2024, breaking free more than 40 kilometers from the finish. The victory made him the most recent three-time winner to go along with titles in 2020 and 2022.
