Police are reminding Ontario residents that impaired driving rules extend to lawn mowers, and not just passenger vehicles, following an incident north of Brampton last week.
The OPP says an officer with the Caledon detachment was in the area of King Street and Highway 10 on Thursday around 7:30 p.m. when they spotted a person operating a ride-on lawn mower.
Police say conditions were foggy with reduced visibility, and that the man was operating the lawn tractor without wearing any reflective clothing.
An impaired driving investigation led to charges for the 57-year-old male driver, including operation while Impaired – alcohol, and operation while prohibited.
The incident has police reminding the public that operating any motorized vehicle while impaired, including lawn tractors and farm equipment, “poses a significant risk to the driver and the public.”
