Two men were hospitalized with serious but non-life threatening injuries following a noon-hour shooting on Monday near a townhouse complex in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police said an altercation amongst individuals led to shots being fired near Central Park Dr. and Glenvale Blvd.

Authorities said there was no known threat to the public’s safety, but were advising people to avoid the area as the police investigation continued.
CP24 said both shooting victims made their way to the hospital on their own.
Monday’s shooting followed a deadly double shooting on Friday night on the property of St. Joachim Elementary School in Brampton.
A man in his 20s and a teenage boy were killed when gunfire erupted Friday night on the school grounds.

Peel Regional Police said officers responded to the deadly shooting near Rutherford Rd. and Weybridge Trail – east of Kennedy Rd. N. – around 10:20 p.m. and located the two victims soon after.

“There was some sort of altercation that occurred in the school grounds with several individuals,” Const. Laurie McCann told reporters at St. Joachim Elementary School on Saturday.
“Following that, a firearm or firearms were discharged and two victims were hit.
“One of the victims fled the scene and collapsed a short time later.”
McCann said both victims – a man in his 20s and a male youth – died at the scene. No arrests had been made and no suspect descriptions were immediately released.
“The suspects fled the area prior to police arrival. We are unsure at this time if they fled on foot or got into a vehicle,” McCann said.
