The annual salary of a Mississauga city councillor is on track to hit the $100,000 mark this year.

A report from senior City of Mississauga staff to be tabled at Wednesday’s general committee meeting shows most of Mississauga’s 11 councillors collected 2025 salaries of $99,246.92 in addition to benefits (most in the $23,000 to $28,000 or so range), up from $96,598.32 plus benefits in 2024 and $94,704.42 plus benefits in 2023.

Even a slight increase in pay will put them over the $100,000 mark in 2026, at least in terms of what they receive in salary only from the city. Each ward representative in Mississauga also pulls in yearly earnings — approximately $63,000 — for sitting as Region of Peel councillors in addition to their municipal roles in Canada’s seventh-largest city.

As Mississauga’s two deputy mayors, Ward 8 Coun. Matt Mahoney ($113,969.19) and Ward 4’s John Kovac ($111,874.47) earned a bit extra last year and are already well past the $100,000 mark.

Ward 9 Coun. Sue McFadden received a 2025 salary from the city of $89,375.25, in addition to slightly more than $22,000 in benefits. Her earnings were below that of her colleagues as she took a brief leave of absence early last year to run as a candidate in the federal election.

Meanwhile, Mayor Carolyn Parrish earned a city salary of $156,170.67 in 2025, plus benefits, in addition to money she collected as a regional councillor in Peel.

The Ontario Municipal Act stipulates municipalities must make public each year such statements of remuneration and expenses paid to members of council (see list below), local boards and committees the previous year.
