“Fluffy” is headed to “The Windy City”
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight contender Anthony Hernandez dominated and then strangled No. 9-ranked Roman Dolidze in the main event of UFC Vegas 109 last night (Sat., Aug. 9, 2025) inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada (watch highlights).
Hernandez’s victory extends his remarkable eight-fight win streak—the longest in the division aside from champion Dricus Du Plessis—with six of those wins by finish. His dominant run has solidified “Fluffy” as a serious contender in the stacked Middleweight division.
With UFC 319 going down next weekend in Chicago, where Du Plessis defends his title against Khamzat Chimaev, Hernandez will be front and center.
“That’s what I’m hearing, I’m flying to Chicago,” Hernandez told reporters during the UFC Vegas 109 post-fight press conference (watch here). “I was told that in the back right now. They’re flying me out, so I’ll be looking forward to that.”
UFC’s decision to have Hernandez attend the mega Middleweight title fight signals their confidence in the surging contender, especially in a division brimming with talent that could be next in line. Many believe the winner of the UFC Paris main event between Nassourdine Imavov and Caio Borralho will get the next shot at Middleweight gold, while Reinier de Ridder, fresh off a split-decision win over Robert Whittaker, is also red-hot. Still, Hernandez’s impressive streak and relentless style keep him firmly in the title conversation.
