Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight prospect Elijah Smith scored his second Octagon win in absolutely brutal fashion as he knocked out Toshiomi Kazama with a vicious slam at UFC Vegas 109 last night (Sat., Aug 9, 2025) inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada (watch highlights).
UFC company officials confirmed to MMAmania.com that Kazama was transported to a local “Sin City” hospital immediately after his loss for a precautionary CT scan of his head.
The Japanese fighter was discharged from the hospital a few hours later, and the UFC broadcast revealed that his scans were negative.
Kazama (11-5) is now 1-3 inside UFC, including his loss in the Road To UFC finals. The 28-year-old fighter has been knocked out in all three of his losses (all in the first round), and his latest at UFC Vegas 109 was by far the most brutal.
It is unclear if Kazama will get another fighter in the promotion with his current record inside the Octagon.
Meanwhile, Smith (9-1) made a major statement to the 135 lb division with his $50k Performance of the Night knockout. The Contender Series alum won his UFC debut earlier this year against Vince Morales and is riding a seven-fight win streak.
