Silver for 2 Surrey wrestlers at U17 Pan-Am Championships

Surrey wrestlers were among Team Canada’s 11 medal-winners at the 2026 U17 Pan-Am Championships.
Canadians earned one gold (Ontario’s Jerin Coles in 71kg in Men’s Freestyle), five silver and five bronze at the three-day tournament, held April 2-4 in Panama City, Panama.
Surrey’s Uday Billen earned the first silver at 110kg, going 3-1 in round-robin matches and finishing with the second-best record.
Among women, fellow Surreyite Gurleen Dhillon earned silver in the 57kg division. The Canadian Mal WC member scored wins over wrestlers from Argentina and Mexico to advance to the finals against American Aleia Apostol, who won gold.
Canada women picked up three bronze medals including Surrey’s Khushi Jhalli (69kg division), Calgary’s Maya Naicker (43kg) and Williams Lake’s Kai Pare (61kg).
The team of teenagers was announced in March by Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL), the national sport governing body for Olympic style wrestling in Canada.
