Two-time WNBA All-Star Angel Reese is “here to stay” following her trade to the Atlanta Dream.
“I was so excited when I finally found out,” she told People’s Natasha Dye and Carly Breit. “The team has welcomed me so much, the atmosphere, the culture … I’m so excited to be in A-Town.”
The 2025 season ended on a low note for Reese and the Chicago Sky. She was suspended for a half-game after publicly criticizing the organization and missed the Sky’s final four contests through injury.
Still, her exit from Chicago was a stunner because it seemingly materialized quickly. ESPN’s Kendra Andrews and Alexa Philippou reported she didn’t request a trade. The front office just decided it was time to move on and worked with the 6’3″ forward to get her to a favorable destination.
The Dream have made the playoffs in three successive seasons, and that’s an upgrade over the perennial dysfunction she’s leaving behind. Atlanta doesn’t have a true cornerstone star, either. As good as Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard are, they don’t possess Reese’s broad popularity.
A change of scenery should boost the 23-year-old in multiple ways, and she’s clearly eager to assume a role as a face of the franchise.
