A Boston Bruins centerman could be a potential waiver target for Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks in early October as NHL training camps wind down.
In roughly six weeks, all 32 teams around the National Hockey League will open up their respective training camps as they begin their preparations for the 2025-26 season.
As is the case towards the end of training camp every year, the waiver wire is very active, as teams look to send some of their players down to the American Hockey League to begin the season. For the Vancouver Canucks, who reportedly aren’t done adding to their roster, General Manager Patrik Allvin may have to take a look at the waiver market in early October to see if there are any intriguing names that could fill a center spot on the team’s NHL roster.

In an article on Canucks Army, Stephan Roget took a look at some potential players that the Vancouver Canucks could target in late-September/early-October on the waiver wire.
Among the names mentioned by Roget is 23-year-old Boston Bruins centerman Marat Khusnutdinov, who was formerly with the Minnesota Wild – the team that selected him in the second round back in 2020.
“Still, Khusnutdinov is out of waiver exemption and may not be guaranteed the same spot in 2025/26. This is still a player who was drafted in the early second round and put up 20 points in the KHL at the age of 20. There’s upside here, and Khusnutdinov’s two-way commitment makes it all the more likely he’ll hit it.” Roget said.
The Moscow, Russia native suited for 75 games last season with the Minnesota Wild and Boston Bruins where he registered 12 points (five goals, seven assists), 20 penalty minutes and was a minus-11.
Khusnutdinov is still young and has a ton of potential, but if he lands on waivers this fall and the Vancouver Canucks decide to place a claim on him, he’ll likely only play a bottom-six role with the club this coming season, which wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing for his development.
