Surrey hosting 2 free ‘bird walks’ this Saturday

This little story is for the birds.
The City of Surrey is hosting free-of-charge “bird walks” this Saturday for people who want to “discover migrating and resident birds and the diverse habitats that support them.”
Those interested will meet at Blackie Spit Park at 3136 McBride Avenue, at the kiosk at the north end of the gravel parking lot, with two April 11 sessions set for 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (ages 13 and older) and 11 a.m. to noon (all ages).
It’s billed as helping participants improve their bird-identification skills and offers tips on how to help protect wildlife. They’ll also learn how to use an online data collection tool called iNaturalist.
Participants are asked to dress for the weather, leave their dog/s at home and bring binoculars (or borrow a pair there).
