Peel Regional Police have released new information about the double shooting that left two people injured in Brampton.
The April 6 incident happened in the area of Central Park Drive and Glenvale Boulevard in Brampton.
Officers responded to a carjacking around noon when it was reported that two people were shot when they wouldn’t give up their vehicle to a pair of bandits.
The male victims, both in their 20s, were able to flee in the vehicle. They went to the hospital, where one was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and the other remains in critical condition.
Meanwhile, at the crime scene, police chased the suspects on foot. One person was arrested, and a loaded, illegal gun was recovered. The firearm is capable of automatic fire.
The second suspect is still outstanding. He is described as a Black male, wearing dark clothing.
Naesean Okoko, 19, of Brampton, was arrested and held pending a bail hearing on the following charges:
Attempt murder using a firearm
Aggravated assault
Discharge a firearm with intent
Unauthorized Possession of a firearm
Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing its possession is unauthorized
Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
Possession of opioid
