When Nike’s new Canada Soccer jerseys were unveiled ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, many fans praised the design.
But is there something wrong with the fit?
One Canadian fan made international headlines after sharing on Reddit how their newly purchased Nike Team Canada replica jersey fit.
“It’s actually a complete joke,” the fan wrote. “The way the shoulders are sewn together just makes the jersey bunch up no matter what. This is a stupid design.”

Fans also noticed similar issues during the recent international break, when Canada played two home friendlies against Iceland and Tunisia. The jerseys worn by players appeared to show the same problem: a puffed-sleeve bulge along the shoulder seam.
Daily Hive reached out to Canada Soccer for comment, but the organization did not respond at the time of publication.
Canada isn’t the only country affected, as Nike also designed kits for several other nations competing in the tournament, including Brazil, Croatia, France, England, and the United States.
According to The Guardian, Nike is aware of the shoulder issue, and the company is investigating what can be done.

“During the recent international break, we observed a minor issue with our Nike national team kits, most noticeable around the shoulder seam,” a Nike spokesperson said, per The Guardian. “Performance is unaffected, but the overall aesthetic is not where it needs to be.”
For fans who paid anywhere from C$130 to $200 for one of these jerseys, it’s easy to understand the frustration. No one wants to spend money on a product that doesn’t meet the quality standards, especially if it’s marketed as having the brand’s “most advanced knits and yarns.”
However, a widespread fix before kickoff appears unlikely. With millions of jerseys already produced and fewer than nine weeks until the World Cup begins, a recall would seem logistically impossible.
