A rumour is circulating that the Montreal Canadiens could indeed receive a major boost just in time for tonight’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Defenseman Kaiden Guhle was back at Canadiens practice today — and notably, he was wearing a regular jersey.
Of course, staying consistent with his recent approach, head coach Martin St-Louis refused to confirm anything, but multiple reports suggest that Guhle could indeed arrive as reinforcement for the Canadiens as early as tonight.
Kaiden Guhle could arrive as reinforcement tonight for the Montreal Canadiens
Typically, when a player practices in a regular jersey, it indicates he is ready — or very close — to returning to game action.
As a result, Guhle is now expected to rejoin the lineup either tonight or, at the latest, tomorrow against the New York Islanders.
Kaiden Guhle, 24, is a 6-foot-3, 202-pound left-shot defenseman who was selected 16th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2020 NHL Draft (first round).
He has recorded 10 points in just 37 games this season, including two goals, while posting a +4 rating.
Last season, he appeared in 55 games.
If Guhle returns to the lineup tonight, it will be interesting to see which of Jayden Struble, Arber Xhekaj, or Adam Engstrom ends up being the odd man out.
As a reminder, the Montreal Canadiens are set to face the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7:00 p.m. at the Bell Centre.
