In need of some nostalgic songs from 1969 to remind you of your childhood in the late 1960s? You’ve got a lot of music to choose from. The year 1969 was an excellent year for pop and rock music. Honestly, there are just too many good releases to include on one short list. However, I’m particularly fond of the following nostalgic songs from 1969. Maybe you are, too. Let’s take a look!

“Mr. Sun, Mr. Moon” by Paul Revere & The Raiders

If you were a fan of psychedelic pop and maybe even bubblegum pop as a kid, you probably already know all about “Mr. Sun, Mr. Moon” by Paul Revere & The Raiders. Released in early 1969, this tune peaked at No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It did similarly well on other charts. And if you weren’t a kid in 1969, you might just recognize this song from its inclusion on the super-nostalgic soundtrack for the 2019 Quentin Tarantino film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

“It’s Getting Better” by Cass Elliot

This 1969 song from Cass Elliot was a real hit that year, and it’s one of the most nostalgic songs on this list. Released in May of 1969, “It’s Getting Better” was a top-notch sunshine pop hit for the famed crooner Cass Elliot following her departure from The Mamas & The Papas. Honestly, the entirety of her solo album Bubblegum, Lemonade, And… Something For Mama is essential listening for anyone who wants a real throwback to the later years of the 60s.

“Traces” by Classics IV

Remember Classics IV? This rock band with a soul music flair did quite well in the late 1960s. One of their most memorable (and nostalgic) songs has to be the 1969 hit “Traces”. This soft rock, blue-eyed soul tune was the title track of their album released that year, and it’s a real treat. “Traces” peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100 chart. Today, it’s considered by many to be one of the greatest songs of the 20th century, and it’s hard to disagree with that. “Traces” has since been covered countless times by the likes of musicians like Gloria Estefan, Harry James, Liberace, and others.
