A popular store says it has just launched a “revamped” rewards program in Canada.

Arts and crafts retailer Michaels said that shoppers “have a new way to save, offering exclusive perks, birthday surprises, and more value when they shop.”

“Bringing an upgraded loyalty program to Canada is a significant milestone in our mission to fuel the joy of creativity and celebration everywhere we serve,” said Derek Schweitzer, the senior vice president of Michaels stores in Canada.

“The brand-new benefits provide our Canadian customers with the exclusive value and perks they’ve been waiting for.”

The new program has three tiers of rewards:

Red: Members get three per cent in rewards on purchases when they join.
Gold: Members get six per cent in rewards on purchases after $300 in annual spending.
Platinum: Members earn nine per cent in rewards on purchases after $1,000 in annual spending.

“Each tier builds on the last, stacking on more rewards, exclusive access, and elevated recognition, including tiered birthday discounts for every member (15 per cent for red, 20 per cent for gold, and 25 per cent for platinum),” Michaels said.

Gold and platinum members also get other perks.

That includes a coupon for one regular-priced item every day — gold members get 35 per cent, and platinum members get 40 per cent.

They also get a first look at new products and events.

Platinum members get a complimentary Michaels tote bag.

Michaels operates more than 1,300 stores across 49 U.S. states and Canada. There are 138 stores across 10 Canadian provinces.
