New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel is taking more of the reins in the team’s pre-draft process.
While speaking to reporters on Monday, Patriots executive vice president and general manager Eliot Wolf revealed that Vrabel has increased his involvement in the team’s draft meetings as he enters his second year at the helm in New England.
“Very involved, business as usual,” Wolf told reporters. “I would say he’s been in there with us in this round of meetings probably a little bit more than he was last year, just because I know the coaching staff is probably more comfortable from that standpoint. He’s been in there, he’s been contributing, he’s watched a ton of the players.”
The Patriots have the 31st pick in the first round and 11 picks in total in the 2026 NFL draft. After making a run to the Super Bowl in Vrabel’s first year, New England will look to continue adding to its foundation of talented young players.
Wolf added that Vrabel’s input has been useful as the Patriots prepare for the draft later this month.
“It’s helpful, because sometimes there’s players that the scouts like, me included, and he’ll be like, ‘This is the reason that maybe this guy isn’t the best fit for us,'” Wolf said. “So we can continue to compile all the information together.”
