There have been reports indicating that the Seattle Seahawks are very interested in being aggressive in deals throughout the remainder of the offseason, though it’s tough to get a feel for what that could exactly mean. The Seahawks already have one of the better rosters in the NFL, and they were by far the best team in the league last season after going on to win a Super Bowl.
However, just as other contending teams have found out in the past, running it back completely doesn’t always make the most sense. The Seahawks could view the next few days before the NFL draft as an opportunity to improve on both sides of the ball, even if that means moving on from players who had great seasons a year ago.
Uchenna Nwosu is someone who instantly comes to mind, as he had his best campaign ever in 2025 and is approaching 30 years old. The veteran posted 7.0 sacks, a career high.
“Seattle Seahawks: Edge Uchenna Nwosu. Derick Hall’s breakout as a rotational pass-rusher could make Nwosu a redundancy for the Seahawks despite coming off of a seven-sack season. Both players are set to hit free agency after 2026, so the draft could be a good time for Seattle to capitalize on Nwosu’s value as a pass-rusher after one of the best seasons of his career. Seahawks GM John Schneider could use the return of picks to keep Seattle’s roster young and in position to contend and simultaneously make his edge rusher free agency decision easier with Hall the one player to extend,” Jack McKessy of USA TODAY wrote.
I think this is the type of move that would make sense after the draft. If Seattle goes with an edge rusher in the first round, it’s important to recognize that, as it was touched on, Derick Hall’s impressive campaign could play a factor. Perhaps then moving on from Nwosu could make sense.
