A stretch of Deerfoot Trail in southeast Calgary is shut down on Wednesday night after a series of collisions during a spring snowstorm.
Emergency crews were called to the northbound lanes of Deerfoot between Glenmore Trail and the Calf Robe Bridge around 8:55 p.m. for reports of multiple vehicles involved in crashes.
Calgary police say as many as a dozen vehicles were involved in more than one collision in that area.
Several people suffered minor injuries, according to police. No serious injuries have been reported.
Police say the northbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail are closed at Glenmore Trail, with all traffic being diverted onto eastbound and westbound Glenmore.
There is no word on how long the closure will last.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes as emergency crews continue to manage the scene and clear the vehicles.
The collisions come as Calgary is under a snowfall warning with Environment Canada warning of hazardous travel conditions.
