The WNBA team is hosting the league’s first-ever Fourth Wing night on June 13. The special, bookish event is inspired by The Empyrean series, Rebecca Yarros’ bestselling books, and will feature exclusive merch and the opportunity to get a signed bookplate from Yarros herself.

The event is in collaboration with Not Your Average Book Club, a book club based in the Valley that hosts bookish-themed events like their Bookish Night Market, Bookstock, and more.

Founder of NYAB Kyra Coombs tells 12News that as a born and raised Arizonan, she loves to partner with local businesses, and was beyond excited when the Mercury reached out.

“And the opportunity to support women’s sports was just the icing on the cake,” Coombs said.

The Empyrean series reignited Coombs’ love for reading as an adult, and Fourth Wing is a “top 10” book for her.

“And if there’s one world I would love to immerse myself in, it’s the world that Rebecca has built!”

As she preps for the event, Coombs said she’ll be re-reading at least the first book of the series, and is ready to meet new “book besties” to cheer on the Mercury with.

“I am most excited to be in a setting surrounded by fellow readers and fans of the Empyrean series,” Coombs said. “There’s nothing more magical than the energy that bookish friends add to any space, and we’re so lucky to be a part of it.”

The Mercury is facing off against the Los Angeles Sparks on June 13, and you can already buy your special tickets to Fourth Wing Night now.

But hurry: If you’re looking for a signed book plate from Yarros, there are only 500 of those tickets available!

So, as the Mercury say: Grab your tickets, and “prepare to enter the Riders Quadrant!”
