A Toronto police detective constable has pleaded guilty to two offences but will be back in court to face drug-related charges, according to a new report.
Toronto Police Service Det. Const. Brian Sukhram was charged with multiple offences following an on-duty incident in July, 2024.
Peel Regional Police were called to the Hurontario Street and Courtneypark Drive area of Mississauga, and multiple Peel police cruisers were damaged when officers attempted to stop a vehicle, a spokesperson told INsauga.com.
The charges included flight from a peace officer, and operation while impaired, which he pleaded guilty to in February, CP24 reports.
But Sukhram was also charged with possession of methamphetamines for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
He will be back in court on July 12, and the Crown will reportedly be seeking jail time.
Sukhram was also charged by the OPP with breach of trust, obstruct justice, theft over $5,000, and theft under $5,000. He has been suspended without pay as per the Community Safety and Policing Act.
Sukhram was a detective constable assigned to the Drug Squad unit, a plainclothes officer and a 13-year veteran of the force at the time of his arrest.
