A Calgary man has been charged with attempted murder in relation to a stabbing at CrossIron Mills earlier this week.
Shortly after 6 p.m. on Monday, Airdrie RCMP responded to a call reporting a stabbing in the mall’s parking lot. The suspect had fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of the victim’s money.
The victim, who had been stabbed in the chest, was sent to the hospital in serious condition. The man remains in the hospital, RCMP said Friday, but is now in stable condition.
The two men were known to each other, and had been conducting a business transaction involving the sale of cell phones. The victim was able to identify the suspect to RCMP as Tariq Hussain, 46, before being taken to the hospital.
RCMP obtained a Canada-wide arrest warrant for Hussain, and he was ultimately located and arrested by police in Surrey, B.C. on Tuesday.
He was escorted back to Airdrie on Thursday, and has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and robbery.
Hussain is scheduled to appear in court on April 20.
