Kevin Durant has captured two rings in his 18-year NBA career, winning Finals MVP twice in back-to-back title wins with the Golden State Warriors.
Durant has also A) never won with another franchise, and B) never earned a wedding ring. One could change this spring: his Houston Rockets sit among a group of contenders who could come out of the Western Conference, helped by an easy first-round draw against the injury-riddled Los Angeles Lakers.
The second fact seems unchanging: Durant indicated in a 2025 podcast with Bobbi Althoff that he doesn’t see himself getting married. However, the former MVP once was engaged to a former WNBA star, though she cited her differences in faith in ending the relationship.

Durant met Monica Wright at a high school all-star game in 2006, before both headed to college (him to Texas, her to Virginia). They didn’t start dating then, but the pair eventually found themselves together years later.
Both were the second pick in their respective professional leagues — Durant to the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007, Wright to the Minnesota Lynx in 2010.

They were engaged in 2013 but split in 2014 (Durant was a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder at the time). That same year, Risen Magazine asked Wright if she had ever been criticized for her faith.
“Yeah, in my last relationship [with Durant], I had to make a decision about compromising myself as a woman,” Wright admitted.

“I had to make a decision to leave a relationship, which a lot of people thought I was crazy to leave. There was a lot of criticism over it. But I think God had my back in it. Because I hold to what I know to be true, that is what God will reward, instead of what people on the earth think is a good catch.”
Wright averaged 23.7 points per game during her senior year at Virginia. She didn’t quite reach the same scoring heights in the WNBA, but she did win two championships with the Lynx.

She served as the Phoenix Mercury’s assistant general manager after retiring and was recently named the first-ever GM of the expansion Toronto Tempo.
Durant is a 16-time All-Star and 11x All-NBA selection. He topped 26 or more points per game for a ninth straight year as Houston cruised to 52 wins.
