After like three years since the project was unveiled, the Street Fighter film received its first full trailer this week.

Hip hop fans likely picked up on one of Tupac Shakur’s songs being used in said trailer, but not the version they’re used to.

That’s because the trailer featured a technically unreleased 2Pac song, which is fitting for Street Fighter here for a few reasons.

The song is typically called ‘Ambitionz az a Fighta’ since it was an alternate version of Ambitionz az a Ridah.

2Pac recorded this version of the track for Mike Tyson’s boxing match return back in 1995 against Buster Mathis Jr. though it was never officially released by the record label on any albums before or after the rapper’s death — but you can find unofficial mixes of it online.

Having lines like “I’m a straight fighta” sounds a lot like Street Fighter, and there’s a small other connection there too.

Balrog the boxer was of course heavily inspired by Mike Tyson to the point that his original Japanese name is M. Bison, which was swapped around with Vega and the other two for western releases.

The Street Fighter trailer just dropped and it’s using unreleased Tupac song titled Ambition Of A Fighta

Although the names were swapped to avoid potential legal issues, Mike Tyson said in 2019 that he had never seen Street Fighter’s boxer before though it’d be kinda weird if he managed to avoid his fighting game likeness for 18 years at that point.

The Street Fighter movie does feature Balrog played by rapper 50 Cent, so it’s almost like things are coming full circle.

Street Fighter is set to hit theaters on October 16, 2026, and you can check out the song being used in Mike Tyson’s entrance from over 30 years ago below.
