Surrey Fire crews used the jaws of life to rescue a driver from a passenger vehicle following a collision with a large commercial truck on Saturday (April 18). The driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Emergency crews responded to a call of a multi-vehicle collision between a large five-tonne commercial truck and a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Highway 10 (56 Ave) and 192 Street around 10:35 a.m.
A Black Press freelancer at the scene noted the crash happened in the intersection, but the force sent the car several dozen meters across traffic.
The driver of the commercial vehicle was not hurt and remained on scene.
The Surrey Police collision investigation unit is looking into the cause of the crash.
Police closed some lanes on Highway 10 and 192 Street for several hours as investigators search for evidence at the crash scene. All lanes reopened around 4 p.m. Saturday.
SPS is asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-36674 (SP).
