Original April 15 notice:
The North Shore Health Network (NSHN), in collaboration with Algoma Public Health (APH), has declared a respiratory outbreak in the acute care unit at the Blind River site following proactive surveillance and case identification.
NSHN is working closely with APH to keep workers, patients, visitors, and providers safe. Patients will continue to be monitored for any new symptoms.
Effective immediately, the following precautions are in place:
Visitors must wear a medical mask at all times and perform hand hygiene upon entry and exit.
Visits are limited to one patient at a time, in their room.
Non-essential visits are strongly recommended to be rescheduled.
Visitors with cold-like symptoms (fever, cough, runny nose, sneezing, difficulty breathing) should not visit.
NSHN will provide updates on the outbreak status as they become available.
We thank the community for their understanding and co-operation, and kindly remind everyone to treat our staff with respect and compassion.
