A baby has died after being found unresponsive in the back of a car in Toronto’s east end on Monday, police say.
The incident happened in the area of Queen Street E. and Pape Avenue, according to the Toronto Police Service.
Police said they received a call about a baby in distress in the back of a car at 4:45 p.m.
Duty Insp. Scott Bradbury told reporters near the scene that police, firefighters and paramedics tried to save the baby’s life. Paramedics rushed the baby by ambulance to a local hospital, where the baby received medical care but was pronounced dead.
“I’m saddened to report that this child has unfortunately passed away,” Bradbury said.
“Mom and Dad are with child at hospital.”
Police are in the early stage of their investigation and he said no further details were available.
