A 72-year-old male has been taken into custody and faces charges for racist comments and threats to a member of the legislative assembly of Manitoba.
Between July and September 2025, multiple letters were sent to a member of the legislative assembly of Manitoba from an unknown source. The letters contained racist comments, including a threat of violence.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and later identified a suspect.
Along with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team,on April 18, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the northwest area of the city.
A 72-year-old man was taken into custody and is facing the following charges:
Criminal Harassment
Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
He was released on an Undertaking.
