Amy Fochs and Whitney Starks are the owners of Cake it Easy, and their dream was to open a store of gluten-free treats for everyone to try and enjoy. Their store is located at 1300 North 200 East Suite 108.

“We dreamed of having a bakery for a long time, and wanted it to be like a sister thing,” said Fochs.

Fochs wanted to make a gluten free treat for her father who has been gluten free for ten years and has seen similar symptoms within the family as well.

In order to make sure the treats were gluten free and also tasted the same as regular treats, Fochs did “tests”, where she would bake a treat and have her family taste it.

“I’ve actually tried to do some things with my friends or family, and be like, which one’s gluten free, and half the time they can’t tell.”

Fochs has been perfecting her gluten free treats from her house for about six or seven years.

“We’ve been making stuff from home for a while. I actually did some wedding cupcakes and things like that for some people in Rexburg for their daughters, and had some fun with different flavors and that kind of thing. So, (I’ve) been doing it for a while, and it’s just a passion for both of us.”

They will have cookies, cupcakes, and different kinds of treats for everyone to try.

“The way that it’s kind of laid out is we have…cakes by the slice, and so they get to pick the cake base, the frosting and toppings. And it’ll be the same with cupcakes.

“We’ll have cupcakes, so you can do the same. And we’re also going to be doing cookies, if people want that. So that’s kind of what happens here at the counter.”

There will also be a grab and go on the shelves for people who want a specific flavor or treat.

They will also rotate their menu, so it’s not the same treat that will be served everyday where people can try new things and enjoy them.

“Our menu, like I said, will rotate, and so we’ll probably announce it on social media and on our website.”

Their goal is to make sure each customer gets their desired treat. Customers are able to place orders for cakes and cupcakes for either a special gathering or for a birthday party.

“They can call us, put an order in for that cupcake, cake, and we can do, I think it’s just going to be kind of a basic happy birthday. We can put on there for them.”

They will also have special treats that will be a pop up and be there for a week or for a couple days.

“We want to do a lot of fun pop up things. We’ve talked about having crepes. We’ve talked about having some biscuits, or just things that are kind of something that we always want. We’ll have different pop up items, and we’ve got lots of ideas for what we want to do with that, so we’re hoping that we can expand a lot.”

Cake it Easy’s opening date is August 13th.
