UPDATE: Police said on Tuesday afternoon that the incidents are believed to be trageted, but it is unknown if they are connected.
The original story follows below.
Multiple tow truck fires were reported overnight in Brampton.
Brampton Fire crews responded to four tow truck fires at three different homes starting shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, according to news reports.
The first fire call came on Cassinway Road, near Airport Road and Countryside Drive, where two tow trucks were on fire. Reports indicate both trucks were fully engulfed in flames—one in the driveway and another on the street.
Around 1:30 a.m., another tow truck was on fire in the Bovaird Drive West and McLaughlin Road North area.
The third call came around 1:40 a.m. on Worthington Avenue, near Bovaird Drive West. A tow truck was on fire on the street in front of a home.
All four fires were extinguished before they spread to buildings. No injuries were reported.
Peel Regional Police are reportedly investigating, but did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
Tow truck fires have been reported several times in Brampton and Mississauga, and have been linked to turf wars in the Greater Toronto Area.
