BC Ferries says travellers should expect delays along some sailings between Vancouver (Tsawwassen) and Nanaimo (Duke Point) on Wednesday due to a medical emergency.
The 12:45 p.m. sailing departing from Tsawwassen was delayed after a customer required “immediate medical attention that required the vessel to return to Tsawwassen,” according to BC Ferries.
The sailing was delayed by just over an hour, and as a result BC Ferries expects the 3:15 p.m. sailing departing Duke Point, the 5:45 p.m. departing Tsawwassen, and the 8:15 p.m. departing Duke Point to be delayed as well.
“If you have a reservation on an upcoming sailing today, please arrive during the check-in window noted in your booking confirmation email to maintain your reserved status,” said BC Ferries in an update just before 2 p.m.
“This ensures we can stage your vehicle at the terminal ahead of standby customers and those reserved on later sailings.”

Wednesday’s delays come one day after BC Ferries delays along the same route. On Tuesday, a handful of sailings were delayed after smoke was spotted on the galley of the Coastal Inspiration vessel.
