Sawbucks set to return to South Surrey

A familiar neighbourhood pub is set to return to South Surrey.
Sawbucks Neighbourhood Pub, located on the Surrey-White Rock border on 152 Street, was sold by previous owners to Otter Co-op, who re-opened it as the Highwayman Pub in 2022, but it has since been sold to new owners (whom staff on site said preferred not to have their names used), who are bringing the name Sawbucks back.
A new sign above the red front doors has gone up, which has not gone unnoticed in local community social media posts.
Known for its live music, large-screen TVs, tasty food including plenty of popular appetizers, many in South Surrey and White Rock have seen their favourite local band play, watched a sporting event, or enjoyed sharing a meal and a beverage at Sawbucks.
At the pub Friday (April 24), trades workers were busily renovating the space, with plastic and drop sheets protecting everything else.
Staff on site confirmed Sawbucks will return — hopefully, in May — as the owners deal with the many trades workers who are helping to renovate the pub into a new neighbourhood haunt.
While there is no set opening date, staff members confirmed live music will return to the Semiahmoo Peninsual staple, which has operated for many years under different ownerships.
